Educational Tours

*Walking Educational Tour of our 37 year old orchard. Learn about apple trees, how apples grow, and pick your own small bag of apples.

*Apple Cider Making Demonstrations. See how we make fresh, pasteurized cider with our rack and cloth cider press operation. Apple cider will never be the same! (The cider press runs an avg. of 1 day a week this year)

*Visit our Bee Observation Hive. Observe a working hive of orchard bees up close.

*In addition to the bag of apples each attendee picks, the children will receive an apple sipper with fresh apple cider, and half of an apple crisp doughnut. A unique educational coloring/activity book titled “Welcome To Our Apple Orchard” can be added to your package for an extra $1.00 per person. Teachers and adults will each receive a whole apple crisp donut and an 8 oz. cup of apple cider slush or cider in addition to their bag of picked apples.

*We also offer: A large playground area and a separate preschool play area, 2 covered picnic areas and 3 outdoor restrooms in addition to the one inside the store. Adult supervision is required on the playground.

Tours begin September 6 and end October 13, 2017
Scheduling begins August 1, 2017

Space is limited, so call early to reserve a time for your class or group!
Tour minimum number is 15 attendees.



Price: $5.00 per person (this includes all adults/siblings in attendance ages 2 & up) If you walk on the tour you are required to pay the tour fee.

Teachers and Bus Drivers are free.
Please call 217-728-8269(orchard #) or 217-254-2310 (my personal cell #, use this for tours only please) to book your tours.
We will begin taking reservations for tours on August 1.

Reminders:
*Please be on time; we try very hard to be on time so we expect the same from our groups. We book our tours very close together to get everyone scheduled. If you are late, we will have to shorten your tour.

* Please bring a black marker for writing the children’s names on their bag of apples and sippers, a box for safely transporting your apples back to your school, and baby wipes or hand sanitizer for the children’s hands.

* Plan to bring some apples home to your family and friends. We also sell our fresh made cider, apple doughnuts, jellies, apple dumplings, cider slush, gourmet items, new apple themed crafts, and more.

**We do our best to keep the playground and picnic area clean, but we need your help. Please do your best to clean up after your group. Thanks so much!

Directions: Do not rely on GPS!

From Sullivan: Take Route 32 North 4 miles, turn left at the first road after the Blue Tourist Activity Sign with Okaw Valley Orchard displayed, go 2 miles west.

From Decatur Area: Take Route 121 South, 4 miles after Dalton City, turn left at the first road after the Blue Tourist Activity Sign with Okaw Valley Orchard displayed, go east 4 miles.

**If you want to use GPS input Sullivan or Bethany in the GPS, depending on the direction you are driving from and then use our directions to get here. Inputting our physical address in most GPS systems, will get you lost, causing you to be late.
